Best of 2023
2023 gave us lots of great music! My list for this year:
- Owls - Someone (Apple music, Vinyl) In 2023 Iistened to a lot of Someone, saw them live twice, and wore their t-shirt proudly. Owls is a really versatile album, lots of great songs, different styles. I am not that good at describing music, so just check it out.
- Do you ever wonder what comes next - Loupe (Apple music). A number of years a go I saw the band Dakota as a support act. Great band, but unfortutenly the singer was not able to continue. Out of the ashes of the Dakota came Loupe, and what a fanastic album!
- Turn the car around - Gaz Coombes (Apple music). The former singer of Supergrass’s fourth solo album. Wasn’t a big fan of his previous solo album, but this one is great!
- How to replace it - dEUS (Apple Music). After 11 or so years, finally a new dEUS album.
- Bobbie - Pip Blom (Apple music, Bandcamp). Catchy indie pop, sometimes pure pop.
- Ebony Lamb - Ebony Lamb (Bandcamp)
- Lonely Citizen - Indian Askin (Bandcamp). Missed this album when it was released, found in december. Hard driving rock was exactly what I needed in december.
- iViV - Orianne Laceille (Apple music). Found out about her work from some playlist and immediately fell in love with the track “Kaf do lo”. I could not wait until the album came out, but was initially dissapointed by the album. Now slowly warming up and enjoying it more and more.
- Ballad of Darren - Blur (Apple music). I had never imagined that I would be able to go a concert by Blur with my son, while also enjoying new songs.
- At - Andy White and Tim Finn. 2/3 of the band ALT (Apple music). They recorded a number of tracks while waiting for L, inspired by an interview they read about L. After some time they suddenly had an album. Andy White created a highly entertaining podcast about the recording of the album, this podcast is only temporary
Still processing:
- Chaos for the fly - Crian Chatten (Apple music)
- Autopoiética - Mon Laferte (Apple music)
- Ao Mar - ÃO (Apple music)
