Impressed by Someone!
Before the release of the latest Klangstof album, the tracklist was teased. One of the tracks was How I feel, feat. Someone. I was convinced the “feature” was a placeholder, and they would release the name of the real artist later for maximum effect. But it turned that the track indeed features an artist called Someone. Intrigued by her name I started checking out her back catalogue and it turned to be really good!
One of the things that makes Someone special is the strong visual support of her music. Each album has a visual concept, a distinct visual style and two albums even have an app. All done by what appears to be a very small team. This week I received her new album Owls. I am really impressed by the love that went into the packaging and design of this album.Besides great music, the package also includes “Phenakistoscope designs” that you can play on your record player. When you use the custom app to create a stroboscope, you can see an animation right on you record player. You have to see it, to believe it. You can see it in action on Someone’s website
